We are looking for a talented Electrical Engineer to join an industry leading Electrical Engineering team at their headquarters in West Dublin, to assist with the design of electrical switchgear assemblies.

Candidates must have Irish or UK work experience. Minimum of 5 years’ post graduate experience.

The Electrical Engineer will work on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager. They may be required to oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialised design and may work on several concurrent projects. The ideal candidate should have previous experience with design of low voltage switchgear products.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of electrical design of Switchgear control units, including basis of design, conceptual design, the scope of work.
  • Drive project tasks and milestones assigned by management.
  • Create new and review existing designs
  • Maintain and apply knowledge in all pertinent aspects of design disciplines including products, and applicable codes.
  • Applies discipline-specific technical standards and procedures.
  • Drive project-level tasks and milestones assigned to you
  • Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with a Project Manager to determine scope of work, budget and staffing.
  • Prepare scope of work for electrical design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
  • Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyse operation of existing systems.
  • Work effectively with project design team.
  • Check progress of work and alert Production Manager to change of scope or additional requirements.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the applicable electrical standards.
  • Coordinates all aspects of project document completion within company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
  • Promotes use of and participates in continued development of company design and manufacturing standards.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Provides drawing for own designs and produces sketches to incorporate in drawings by drafters.
  • Research best design options and develop Bills of Material.
  • Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards and in accordance with the relevant national standards.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree or higher in an appropriate engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post graduate experience
  • Low Voltage switchgear Design experience highly preferable
  • Experience in the production of drawings, calculations, schedules & specifications for a range of building types
  • Familiar with working with REVIT, BIM platforms.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, including design principles, equipment, materials, and fabrication methods.
  • Ability to organise your work and manage your time to meet tight deadlines.
  • Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer aided drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
